Museum night in Strasshof took place on Saturday 3th October. S.M.P.D. club attended
this action i heavy quantity. We arrived on Saturday morning so that we helped our
austrian friends with yard building. The weather was very nice - as though has not
been start of October. Morning and evening were colder, but we warmed up from
boilers of our steam engines.
A new long section was open towards water-tower, therewithal driving time elongated.
Trip lenght increased to one kilometer and more trains better dislocated on track.
But quality of permanent way is not very good. They use river gravel and its curvy
edges slide over themselves. The track "swims" continually and you must go dad slow
over some places.

First run of 7 inches locomotive AEG by swiss company Balson race through in Strasshof.
This is a bigger sister of our 5 inches locomotives. Green colour be in tune with
passenger cars. The boys tried locomotive promptly. They set a long working train
from all our waggons.
|
Bohous Pavlicek brought new model of "Spectacle-snake" - diesel locomotive CSD
T478.3. This locomotive is smaller compared with our steam engines, but it is
heavy enough. It piqued interest of all participant members and photographers
searched various places for capture all details.
|
Steam engines Gromit, Krzenowic, Ponava and Topsy are traditional participants
and they could not to missing. Petr Prikasky brought his repaied locomotive
Klishay.

"Happy birthday dear Erich, Happy birthday to you!"
|
Our visit has festive atmosphere on this year. Mr Erich Leichner celebrated his
birthday and we brought a small stylish present for him - walnut cake in shape
their steam locomotive "U". Erich was happy and choleing a little. He did not fire
a boiler in contradistinction to steam engines but he cut cake into pieces and
we enjoyed one's meal everyone. It was very delicious ...

We refreshed oneself before brigade-work and then "hurray" on the track by working
train. One team cleared track from leaves and second team built boarding for future
railway station next to water-tower. We took provisionally laid track and then
we made boarding from timbers and lathing.

An accident of domestic train was happened so you had to take car of track leveling
again. Especially Roman Siler checked track in lying position as to revealed treacherous
places. Subsequent running of working train examined all track except of some places.
We determined low-speed driving on this places as a precaution.

Preparing and firing of steam engines
|
We started with firing of steam engines in the afternoon. Steam engines must have
been ready for evening incursion of passengers. The ones that fired as the first,
had a problems with used water. The water contained some corrosion-preventive additive.
The water very frothed and after achievement of initial boiling point verbatim spatter
up the stack. We had to use normal water, steam engines excuse to us that, probably.
|
In regard of shortening days it got dark promptly and night operating started.
Evening and night runs are his magic though on some places visibility markedly
declines. Head lights markedly betters this situation, but rear red lights are
more important. Train with rear lights you see on safe distance and you can
safely halt. Clear sky and moonshine were this evening so visibility was good.
|
"I want to be Sunday morning, ......" sign Pavel Bobek in one of mine favourite
songs. And Sunday morning was marvellous. The first passengers changed morning blank
railways station. Electric locomotive AEG started daily operation as the first.
Other engine drivers fired steam locomotives.

but most of exhibits are waiting for repair. Will enough finances? This is a topical
problem.
